Transfer Student Advising Process
1. Submit the following to the admissions office in the White Administrative Services Center: - A completed admissions application
- Official transcripts from all colleges previously attended.
- Test scores (i.e., THEA, ACT, SAT) if not listed on a college transcript.
2. Determine THEA status: - If you are THEA liable and have not taken the THEA, see an advisor or the registrar’s office regarding your options. Remember, unless a student is *THEA Exempt or in a **THEA Waived certificate program, he/she must take the THEA before registering at a Texas state public institution. A local placement test (Accuplacer) may be required of some students regardless of their THEA status.
3. Contact the Transcript Evaluator in the Registrar’s office for an evaluation of transfer credits. 4. Meet with an Academic Advisor: - The advisor helps the student with the following:
- Interpretation of test scores
- Course selection
- Degree Plan and transfer information
- Graduation requirements
- Course waivers and substitutions
- Information on campus resources
- Selecting a Major
- Information on the registration process.
5. Pick up a Registration Guide in the registrar’s office in the White Administrative Services Center or view online for registration information, courses, dates and times. 6. After online registration, pay tuition and fees, secure parking permit and student ID card. *Determined when an application is received. THEA status is based upon college credit prior to Fall of 1989, or scores from one of the following tests: ACT, SAT or TAAS. Students who are exempt from THEA may still be required to take part of the ACCUPLACER.
