Faculty Evaluation Systems - Introduction

Overview

  • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) requires accredited institutions to conduct an effective faculty evaluation. According to the SACS Criteria for Accreditation (Section III) 3.7.2, Criteria and Procedures for Evaluation: The institution regularly evaluates the effectiveness of each faculty member in accord with published criteria, regardless of contractual or tenured status. (http://www.sacscoc.org/principles.asp)
  • To ensure compliance with the SACS requirements, the TJC Board of Trustees adopted the following policy which applies to the evaluation process.
  • Policy DLA (Local) states: Every employee has the right to expect a periodic evaluation of his or her performance. Each supervisor (with the proper guidance from his or her supervisor) shall be responsible for providing each employee under his or her supervision with a critique of the employee’s job performance according to established guidelines and schedules of evaluation.
